The seed code is the definition of the world you will play in.  It includes things that drive random world generation as well as baked in settings that will be used when playing. The code is made up of 60-bits of information, but is shared using a 12-character [[Base32]] code.  Some values affect world generation and others do not. Currently there are 44-bits of entropy in a seed code. That means that it is currently possible to generate 17,592,186,044,416 (roughly 17.5 trillion) worlds.

'''Possible Worlds'''
The current format of the seed code has 46-bits of entropy.
That means the base game has 70,368,744,177,664 possible worlds. (~70 trillion)
Once all the planned biomes are available, there will be 52-bits of entropy.
Which means with planned DLCs the game will have 4,503,599,627,370,496 possible worlds. (~4.5 quadrillion)

The seed code is the definition of the world you will play in. It includes things that drive random world generation as well as baked in settings that will be used when playing. The code is made up of 65-bits of information, but is shared using a 13-character Base32 code. Some values affect world generation and others do not. Remember that the seed code is intentionally set up so "seed 0" is a fun first world for everyone to play. This can cause slight oddities with the code, such as when 2 pairs of elements are "1 to exclude" and the rest are "1 to include."
